Hi Folks,

Various members of the Board of Directors of IMP will each take a month over the coming year to host a conversation on this forum page. We're hoping these conversations will become a robust exchange of ideas and clinical experience on hot topics at the interface to Buddhist psychology and practice with psychotherapy.

My own area of interest is self-compassion, which may be considered the emotional attitude of mindfulness. Self-compassion has 3 components…

Hi Folks,

I'm giving a talk at the NICABM conference on Thursday on the topic of "compassion fatigue."  Therefore, I've been digging into the recent literature on the topic and found two interesting new ideas--"compassionate numbing" and "exquisite empathy."

Apparently MD's suppress empathy and compassion at a very early stage of information processing in order to do the needful in their profession: …
